The Blue Meanie This device was made using Pringles cans as the fans and it was also constructed of scrap wood. The Generator is made of a magnet rotating about the inside of another Pringles can wrapped with magnet wire.

Mechanical and Electrical Aspects Mechanical Air blows the fan which makes the blades spin The fan turns the rod which the magnets are connected to Electrical As the fan turns, the magnets that are connected to the rod of the fan turns to create a magnetic current The current cycles through the wire and into the light bulb to create electricity and lights the bulb

Efficiency Calculations ρ = Density of air = 1.204 kg / m 3 A = Area of fan blades = π*(.114 m) 2 =.0408 m 2 v = Velocity of wind = 15 mph = 6.71 m / s P Theoretical = 1 / 2 ρAv 3 = 10 Watts

Cost Pringles Can - $1.00/each Wire - $20.00 Magnets - $5.00 CD’s - $1.00/each Wood Scraps

Issues Performance Testing went bad numerous of times Time We all were pretty busy through the month of April with classes, jobs, extra curriculum activities, and etc. Fan Couldn’t get the fan to spin Couldn’t figure what we wanted to make the fan out of Wire Couldn’t seem to find the right type of copper wire

Conclusions We learned how to generate electricity We loved the experience working together in a group Our project seemed to work when we tested it We are happy to be finishing up with EF 152!!!!
