Beliefs in the Afterlife

Afterlife Egyptians believed the soul was made up of several parts:
Ba: watched over the living family Ka: went on to the afterlife; accepted offerings Ren: the soul’s name At night the parts of the soul would be reunited at the deceased body to prepare for the next day.

Afterlife If the body was destroyed, they soul of the dead would be lost forever. This is why Egyptians preserved the bodies of the dead (mummies). Without their bodies, the dead pharaohs would not be able to help to stabilize the living world. This is why looting burials in ancient Egypt was a crime punishable by death.

Afterlife Egyptians believed that in the afterlife, you continued jobs that you had in life. Egyptians were buried with statues of helpers and tools to help them continue in their jobs. Egyptian priests left offerings to the dead.
