There is also water vapor presant in the atmosphere. Volcanos can release a lot of sulfur dioxide and lightening can produce nitrogen oxides. Deforrestation means there are fewer trees to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by photosinthesis One theory is that most off the nitrogen was added to the atmosphere gradualy due to the reactions of nitrogen- containing compounds.
