3. The Roots of the Genocide ○ Home in the Caucasus region of Eurasia for 3000 yr. ○4th century AD, Armenia was its an independent entity- but control of the region shifted from one empire to another ○5th century AD- Ottoman empire took rule

4. The Ottoman Empire ○ Multi-Cultural & Multi-Racial (Muslim) ○ Greeks, Bulgarians, Armenians, & Jews ○ Animosity exists between Turks & Armenians ○ They are different culturally, religiously, linguistically, historically, and economically ○More educated/wealthier than Turkish neighbors
