Greece Made up of Peninsulas, islands and rugged mountains Language- Greek Religion- Greek Orthodox Christian Economics- Not a rich country but immigrants from Albania Starting to industrialize but agriculture was their main economic Capital- Athens

The Western Balkans Include Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Montenegro Once ruled the by the Ottoman Empire (Turks) Many enclaves or territorial or cultural units exist They have a mix of cultures and religions Economics- Coal, oil, industry are main points but want tourism

The Eastern Balkans Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova- these countries did not fight as much as the Western Balkans After WWII Russia Controlled these countries After the fall of communism in these countries they are now democratic nations Economics- Agriculture is their main focus ¼ of the population works in agriculture- fruit, grain and wine
