Slide 4 B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Systems VRF systems, either heat-pump or heat-recovery models, provide heating and air-conditioning, with: 1.Inverter driven outdoor-unit compressors and condenser fans, providing improved part-load and low-ambient performance, 2.Multiple indoor-units with multi-speed fans, electronic expansion valves and integrated thermostats, 3. Refrigerant piping network for heat transfer, 4.Integrated control system, and 5.Ventilation provided by VRF system, natural ventilation or a dedicated outside air system (DOAS).

Slide 9 B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N NEC Article 220.84 VRF Project Appeal City of Portland appeal for multi-family building, which could result in first-cost electric-service cost savings Supporting metering on 2 existing Portland buildings: o Both with 1 st floor retail and 4 floors of multi-family o One building with electric baseboard heat, and o One building with VRF system; To verify VRF system load diversity is similar to electric baseboard heat, amperage will be metered for 30 days: 1.Both whole building amperage, and 2.amperage for two dwelling units in each building.
