A group of 12-15 men who sang, danced, and chanted during the plays.

They represent one single mind or group. Normally the community affected by the play, townspeople, ect. Even though they are of one mind, there were soloists who would sing apart form the group

The chorus serves to help the audience communicate with the actors. They set the mood of the play, give the audience any information they need to know, and help explain parts of the stories.

The chorus would also comment on themes in the play. They also revealed parts of the characters that the audience wouldn’t know, like their deep feelings or fears.

The chorus would sing, dance, or chant their specific parts. These songs are called Tragos or Odes Sometimes their songs would be part of the story, but they were also individually songs/chants throughout the play.

I am going to break you into groups Each group will receive a short fairly tale. Read it as a group and then write a choral ode to go with it Introducing the story Commenting on the story Explaining the story Revealing something about the character Resolving the story
