At the end of this unit, you and partner will use your knowledge of set design to” Create a floor plan of a set Create a set rendering Use given and found materials to create a MODEL of a set.

The LOCATION where the play takes place. Settings can CHANGE from scene to scene within a play.

A sketch of what the set will look like from the audience’s point of view.

A piece of furniture (or a big thing, like a tree) that is a part of a set.

A birds-eye view drawing of the setting. It shows where things are in the setting. Designers make a floor plan before they build a set. The floor plan helps them see the size and placement of the background and set props.

Single setting which can represent a variety of locales with the simple addition of properties or scenic elements.

You are going to create a set rendering of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Remember a rendering is what the audience will see. This is how you envision the play to look like. Make sure to include the ENTIRE SET. Not just one location. You have until the end of the class to finish.
