No food or drinks in class Uniform shirts can be removed and you may wear an old shirt instead (you will also wear an aprons) You will be using sharp tools, it is important that you use caution Preservative is a non-toxic chemical (not formaldehyde) if it comes into contact with your skin, simply wash the area ALWAYS wash hands with soap and water before leaving class ESPECIALLY before eating

Although you are dealing with a non- living specimen it is still important that you treat it with respect You are to follow the lab guide exactly, and you are not to make any incisions or cuts that aren’t in the instructions Remember you are being marked on this (professionalism)

Boreal science Can be a bi-product of pork industry (e.g. mother pig harvested for meat and was pregnant with litter of piglets) Can be grown for scientific research purposes They are “single injected” meaning the arteries are injected with red latex

Dissection skills preparation sheet must be completed this weekend If you are not prepared this will affect your mark

Friday after dissection You are responsible for being able to identify structures and their functions in pig PowerPoint slide show – each slide on for 20 seconds
