4. Floating flowers Can you make a flower from paper? Decide what type of paper you will need. Fold the petals down flat on top of each other. Now you must float your flower on the water. What happens to the paper when it gets wet and why? Floating flowers --- Science --- UW – W - Skill – To discover what happens to the paper when wet. (As the fibres swell in the paper. The paper expands making the flower open.) 40 – 60 months

5. Sky scrapers As a group you are to find a way of building a tower. It must be 1 metre high or taller. Make sure it is safe. IF it is not safe it will fall over, and your mission will have failed. You need to think about: How strong will it be? If the ground shakes will it fall over? If you build it on a slope will it fall? Sky scrapers--- Maths – SSM --- Looking at height and stability. PD – HSC – Shows understanding of the need for safety when tackling new challenges 40 - 60 mths
