Students will be creating a PowerPoint research project on a country of their choice Due Dates: Must be shared by Friday, December 6th, 2013

Must include 10 slides An introduction A conclusion
Photographs on every page Do not simply bullet point information Embed at least one video

Historical Background of the country Language Food Culture Economy The people Landmarks The country in comparison to the United States Why come to the United states from that country? Entertainment Pop culture/pastimes

You must use the following resources: One book World Book online 2 online databases 1 online credible website (Wikipedia does not count as a primary resource, instead use world book) Where can I find this information: At the library

I don’t have Microsoft office, when will I have the opportunity to do this…….
You will have the opportunity to research in class today In addition, we will have the net books for half the period on the 2nd for students who need it. You may work on your powerpoint on your google account Because there have been some issues with google, please make sure to keep your username in a safe place for easy access

How will this be graded? This project will count as a test grade and an authentic assessment Your PowerPoint will receive a test grade for organization and ideas Your presentation will receive a grade using the presentation rubric

Works Cited Page Students must use MLA format to correctly cite the information provided. All paraphrased information, must be include the citation All direct quotes must be cited as well Many of the proper MLA citations are available on the source page. There are great resource tools we will provide to you for additional help.

Does grammar and spelling count?
Yes, grammar and spelling will be a large part of this assessment. Please make sure that everything is proof read. In addition, do not rely on text. There should be pictures and your slide should have information that is interactive.

Do’s and Don’t of a proper powerpoint
Use proper spelling and grammar, proofread Cite all of your sources Use colorful background and pictures Realize that this PowerPoint is simply used to convey directions Do not give one with no color or graphics Use background colors that do not match with the text Write in many different fonts Use irrelevant pictures and data
