12 The Dot: Pair Questions (10 min) Discuss your answers with your partner 1. What is The Dot about? A girl who finds artistic inspiration and exercises creativity through experimenting with dots. 2. Why did the teacher frame Vashti’s dot? The teacher appreciated Vashti’s courage to try something new. 3. What inspired Vashti to make more dots? Encouragement from the teacher and knowing she could put more effort into the work she had done. She could make better “dots” than that. 4. What made Vashti “creative?” She experimented with the dots changing the color, size and technique she used to create them. She kept changing the way she made dots. 17 Name Drawing Finish your name drawing. Criteria: On a piece of 9x12 drawing paper 1. FILL the drawing space! (Draw BIG) 2. Draw your first name in block or bubble style letters (the name you want me to call you. No, I will not call you G-Dawgg, so please don’t draw it.) 3. Draw three objects that represent something about you (things you like, places you want to go, etc…) 4. Color with colored pencils or shade if you know how.
