FCS 111 (2 credit hours) Objectives: 1)History & background of FCS 2)Intro to teaching FCS 3)“What do FCS teachers do?” 15 hours 10 at high school level 5 at middle school level Primarily self-placed 3

Observation Comment Form (15) 5 points per completed form Turn in each week in class Sample questions: 1)How did the teacher begin & end class? 2)What teaching strategies were used? 3)What procedures & routines were used? 4)How did the teacher address inapprop. beh.? 5)Describe the diversity observed in this class. 4

Following Up Classroom discussion “Teacher Role Reflection” paper Observations forms kept on file until FCS 203 5

FCS 203 (4 credit hours) Purpose: ▫“methods” course for FCS 20 hours ▫All at student teaching site ▫Compile binder of information needed for student teaching ▫Assn. in 203 tailored to info learned at observations 6

Observation Binder: Sections in binder: 1)School calendar, bell schedule, student handbook 2)Interview with CT(s) (**expectations) 3)Observe each class CT teaches 4)Interview at least 3 students 5)ID impt. people at student teaching site 7
