Common Skeletal Injuries Fractures- break in a bone, occurs when too much weight is applied to only a few bones

Identifying Injuries Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Takes clear images of both bones and soft tissues Large machine that contains magnets Very expensive Doesn’t damage cells

Joint replacement Often used for arthritis- disease of the joints When joints are injured, it can be replaced by artificial joint

Joint replacement Arthroscopy Arthoscope (slim tube-shaped instrument) is inserted into the joint attached to a camera Allows for doctor to see if joint is damaged
