4. Was the author effective? The author was effective. The approach was educational and lacked bias. Knowing the history of the French fry and how they are produced would lead many to avoid consuming them.

5. Bias The chapter seemed to be factual. There wasn’t any noticeable amount of bias, although the author is naturally tilted away from the French fry producers.

6. Connections The production process of French fries can be compared to other manufactured goods. Uncovering the flavoring industry adds an impersonal element to French fries. The author’s intent is to turn people away from consuming French fries, and by removing the personal element to them, he does this.
