Tech Technology has greatly influenced how campaigns are run in today's political world Old campaigning used to be done through whistle-stop tours Most of the modern exposure to candidates exists through television and internet campaigning The internet has had major impacts on presidential fundraising, greatly increasing the number of Americans who donate to political campaigns

Organization Organizing a Campaign (creating a campaign strategy) 1. Get a Campaign Manager Professional campaign managers help to run the day-to-day responsibilities of the campaign and help establish the message and the tone of the campaign 2. Get a fund-raiser 3. Get campaign counsel Campaign counsels help to ensure that all campaign law is being followed throughout the campaign

Organization 4. Assemble a campaign staff These are the professionals and volunteers that help to run the campaign and enlist voters to show up to the polls 5. Plan the logistics Where do you plan to go? Who do you plan to meet? How do you plan to do it all?

Organization 6. Get a research staff and policy advisers 7. Get a good press secretary 8. Establish a website

Where to focus Battleground states are where candidates spend the majority of their time campaigning These states, also known as swing states or bellwether states, are those that are closely contested (Florida, Ohio, Virginia) These states often go to the candidate who wins the election
