THE SECONDARY SCHOOL OF COMMERCE

The Secondary School of Commerce in Most was established in 1993 and it is a school of refional sphere of activity with about 130 pupils. Nearly a third of the pupils commute from towns nearby. The pupils are at the age between 15 and 20 years. The school offers a four year study programme in the field of trade, focusing on company management, tourism, commetcial law, sport management and multimedia design. The school puts the accent on extensive language teaching – the pupils have four English and four Germany lessons weekly. The study programme is concluded by a school-leaving examination (A level).

The school makes great effort to prepare its pupils to succeed in the labour market and to have the opportunity to find work not only in the Czech Republic, but throughout Europe. The school tries to lead its pupils to applying of theoretical skills to practice trhough work placements. The work placements are arranged in suitable companies according to the pupils study specialization. The pupils are encouraged to start their own business as well. School-leavers work in the administration, travel agencies, advertising agencies or sport clubs. Some of the school- leavers continue with their education in universities.

The school is located in the north of Bohemia, in the region with one of the highest unemployment rate and divorce in the Czech Republic. In the industrial north part of the country there were big social and economic changes during the last 25 years, which influenced family life.
