Tribe Traditions The Southern Utah Paiutes Traditions were the ghost dance, musicale religious ceremonies and the hump dance.

What did they eat? The Paiutes knew plants well. They grew lots of corn, wheat, berries, squash and seeds. They also ate deer, fish, birds and they sometimes ate stuff like bugs.

Where did they live? They lived in southern Utah, Nevada , Arizona and California. There houses were made of stone, mud , sticks, and leaves.

How did they dress. The Paiutes wore leather robes with fur on the in side, leather shoes, beaded necklaces and things like hats or jewelry

Famous people. Namaga wovoka winnemucca

Contributions. The Paiute Indians helped other tribes make baskets.
The Paiute Indians showed the mormon pioneers how to eat the pine nuts.

How big is the tribe? In 1992 the population was 1,456 but the population today is about 890.

They called them selves numaga, meaning the people.
