The City of Troy By; Eric Magaw

Founding There were many different stages of Troy. The city itself had been taken over and destroyed numerous times. The first through fifth era had been during the Bronze age. As time went on cities around Troy were burned and destroyed. Even though Troy wasn’t destroyed it had seemed that a new group of people had taken over and that marked the ending of the fifth era. There were many different stages of Troy. The city itself had been taken over and destroyed numerous times. The first through fifth era had been during the Bronze age. As time went on cities around Troy were burned and destroyed. Even though Troy wasn’t destroyed it had seemed that a new group of people had taken over and that marked the ending of the fifth era.

Founding Cont. The most famous era would be Troy VII. This is the era that was most likely thought to be the main setting for Homers books The Iliad and The Odyssey. It is also believed that this was during the time of the Trojan war. As archeologists were digging in the streets bone fragments of dead people had been discovered.

The Hellenistic Era The Hellenistic Era was the time where Rome had been taking over a lot of Greece. Even though Rome had technically owned many parts of Greece, Greek traditions were still practiced.

The Trojan War The Trojan War was between the Achaean’s and the Trojans. The war started right after Paris had taken Helen from Menelaus (the king of Sparta). A lot of greek mythology happens during this time though. For instance Venus made Helen the most beautiful woman in the land and made her fall in love with Paris. This made Menelaus even madder at the Trojans.

The Trojan War Cont. The most famous/infamous part of this war would arguably be the Trojan horse. This was what marked the end of the war. The Achaean’s had selected 30 men to hide inside the horse. They then gave it to the Trojans as a gift or like a sign of piece almost. The Achaean’s had pretended to sail off. That night the men crept out of the Trojan horse and opened the gates. Then the Achaean’s destroyed the city of Troy and ended the war.
