2  Uses of CFCs during the mid 1900 (40-80s)  CCl3(g) + uv.light -> Cl.(g) + CCl2F(g)  Cl.(g) + O3(g)-> ClO(g) + O2(g) – (1)  ClO(g) + O.(g) -> O2(g) + Cl.(g) – (2)  In comparing (1) and (2)m the Cl. Free radical is used but reproduced; thus acting like a catalyst.  Therefore Cl. Breaks down O3 (ozone) into 2O2 (oxygen gas) and is reproducedl thus being able to continue reacting with O3.

3  Components: Ozone and CFCs.  Relationship: CFCs decomposes in uv light and reacts with O3.  Uses: O3 -> block UV-B and C. › UV-B + UV-C are BAD! › UV-B – skin cancer, eye cataracts, decreased immune response, damages plants. › UV-C – even worse

4  Analysis on evidence: › Increased in UV-B and UV-C impheatuens. › Decrease in Ozone concentration › Increase in CFC use
