Purpose of an Entrance Exam designed to measure students’ skills and help colleges evaluate how ready students are for college-level work.

Purpose of Entrance Exams Pt. 2 Admission tests apply a common standard to everyone. This helps colleges evaluate and compare the preparation of students who go to different high schools. All schools do not offer the same academic programs, learning environments or even expectations. Colleges look at your test scores, along with your high school grades and courses, to see how well prepared you are for college-level work.

New SAT The College Board is launching a new SAT for the first time in 11 years. The revised SAT will launch in March of 2016 and the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2015. Due to this, 2017 graduates have options - you can take the current SAT, the new SAT, or the ACT.

Sections SAT consists of three major sections: Critical Reading Mathematics Writing Each section receives a score on the scale of 200–800. All scores are multiples of 10. Total scores are calculated by adding up scores of the three sections

SAT Scoring: Correct AnswersIncorrect AnswersOmitted +1 point for questions you get correct -1/4 point subtracted for incorrect multiple-choice 0 points subtracted for incorrect student-produced response (math section) 0 points subtracted for questions First: Your raw scores are calculated for each section based on the number of questions you got correct or incorrect, or that you omitted.
