Devecser – special school to fight social inequities Devecser: 5500 inhabitants, 15% gipsies after the political change in 1990 cooperative and industry was bankrupt, intelligencer left; Important resource of income for gipsy minority to „import” and sell used and thrown away household equipment;

Education system School: 550 pupils, 40% gipsies, 50% from multiple disadvantaged families, 15 disabled child. 6-14th year (1-8 classes) Children have to continue 2 more years in other school (secondary school) Extra education: –Music and singing –Arts: painting, sculpurer,etc. –Not compulsory, in the afternoon.

Problems to be solved Prejudice against gypsies; Children having problems with learning (from disadvantaged families); Different level of knowledge from home.

Solutions In the past the slow learners and/or gypsies were gathered in smaller, separate classes – But now integration: Mixed classes; Parents meet regularly (mornings bringing their children to school; on cultural events – drama, music, art, dance, etc.); Round table for teachers and parents how to avoid spontaneous segregation; Special elements of gipsy culture and behaviour in the curriculum (history, music, drawing, biology, etc.);

Resources Normative money from the state (per capita) Additional money for the special integrated approach; EU Social Fund (project based) from September 2006: speech therapist, psychologist, special development programme for teachers, gypsy teacher assistant

Agricultural advisory system in Hungary 7 regional advisory networks lead by universities= Improving the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sector Financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development 3 different tasks: –To aid the „Intensive” agriculture; –Agro-environmental production system; –To promote the rural development;

Transdanubian Advisory Board Legal form: Non profit association 95 advisors; 14 000 farmers to be advised; Mobile office (lap top + printer); All around the country; In cooperation with the Veszprém University; They have their advisory methods; IT mentors to assist farmers using computer and the internet.

Traditional house of Zánka The village was funded in the 12th century, in 1736 resettled by 15 German families; The house is in its traditional form, runs as a museum with old exhibits; Exhibition of a local sculpture in a gallery (beautiful);

The school of porcelain manufactory, Herend 3 years course 3 faculties (painting, sculptureing, moulding) 30% of course-theory, 70%-factory Contract with the students (3 years of obligatory work in factory after graduation) 5 – 15 new students each year, it depends on the demand of the porcelan factory After finishing these 3 years, students work in the factory in Hungary or abroad (mostly abroad)

Entrance examination After secondary school (18 years old) –Drawing skill –Painting (sensitivity for colors) –Copying a painting (being precise) –They must not be creativ
