Later renamed General Electric (G.E.) 1910- Airship America is launched from New Jersey in the first attempt to cross the Atlantic by a powered aircraft. 1939- New York opens its airport, now called LaGuardia International.

3. OTD Friday, October 16 1923 - The Walt Disney company is founded by Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney. 2004- The first Apple retail store opened in California. 2006- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocks Hawaii, causing injuries, landslides, power outages, and property damage.
