On This Day in History O.T.D. Wednesday, October 14 1884- American inventor, George Eastman, receives a patent for paper-strip photographic roll film. (Kodak) 1926- The children’s book, Winnie the Pooh, by A.A. Milne, is published. 1964- Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was named winner of the Nobel Peace Prize

OTD Thursday, October 15 1878- The Edison Electric Light Company begins operation. Later renamed General Electric (G.E.) 1910- Airship America is launched from New Jersey in the first attempt to cross the Atlantic by a powered aircraft. 1939- New York opens its airport, now called LaGuardia International.

OTD Friday, October 16 1923 - The Walt Disney company is founded by Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney. 2004- The first Apple retail store opened in California. 2006- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocks Hawaii, causing injuries, landslides, power outages, and property damage.
