OUTCOME 1: FROM DATA TO INFORMATION Ways to identify relevant data Relevant data needs to meet the required purpose To assess the usability of the data & determine the characteristics of the targeted audience, Usable data has to be: suitable, reliable, accurate, timely, & free from bias. Audience characteristics Gender, Special needs, culture, age, education level, status & location.

I recommend focusing on bar/column charts, line & pie charts. Spreadsheet software What are the five applications of spreadsheet software? What are the different elements of spreadsheet software? Make sure you know how to build basic formulas from given functions. SUM, AVERAGE, MINIMUM, MAXIMUM What is the purpose of AutoFill?

Be able to list some common conventions that are used in spread sheets & graphic representations. Testing techniques What are the characteristics of an effective solution? What is the difference between testing & validation? What ‘tool’ can be used when testing for functionality?

OUTCOME 2: NETWORKS What is a network? What do you need to have for successful communications? Sending/receiving, communications devices, communication channels/transmission media. What are the advantages & disadvantages of using a network?

Know what they are, as well as at least two benefits & disadvantages for each. Also know how to reduce the risks of each particular issue.
