2 Elements of Art! The building blocks of all art works

3 Element of Art Shape: area that has been closed off by a line

4 Geometric shape: made using math formulas such as a circle, square or triangle.

5 Organic shape: similar to shapes found in nature; often rounded and soft

6 Negative shape: the shapes surrounding an object

7 Form: Three dimensional shapes Element of Art

8 Three-dimensional: An object that has a length, width and height.

9 Free form: shapes that don’t look like anything at all (also know: non- representational & non-objective)

10 Space: when a picture appears to go back into the distance and create a sense of place Element of Art

11 Overlap: objects are drawn on top of one another to look like they are in front or in back of each other

12 Horizon line: where the sky and earth seem to meet; eye level

13 Landscape: picture of nature or things found out doors

14 Seascape: picture of a scene at sea

15 Cityscape: picture that has buildings, streets and other urban scenes
