The Role of Jobcentre Plus …….Contd organising specialist training/awareness sessions in response to local needs; continually assess local E and S support provision to make sure it is meeting the needs of the clients; suggest where additional or different provision is needed; maintain a watching brief on current and future client numbers referred into treatment, liaise with the partnership about pinch points and anticipate any capacity problems; ensure referrals are made to the most appropriate provider and take steps to increase and/or modify referrals where necessary. The Role of Jobcentre Plus …….Contd local partnership working, bridging the gap between the drug treatment providers, local employers and learning and skills councils, including working through Jobcentre Plus Account Managers; local drug and other training providers to ensure both Jobcentre Plus and treatment service staff are appropriately trained and have the skills to deliver the employment and drug pathways locally. The Role of Jobcentre Plus The strategic elements ensuring that the E and T needs of treatment naïve problem drug users in receipt of benefits are a focus of future needs assessments; providing relevant data and analysis in relation to clients who may be treatment naïve problem drug users as part of needs assessments; work with the wider drug partnership to ensure the overall direction and purpose of the partnership strategy includes clear aims and objectives regarding pathways to support Jobcentre Plus clients who may benefit from referral to treatment services; ensuring that the likely demand from this client group for drug treatment services is incorporated into business planning for the following year and that any possible bottlenecks in treatment demand are anticipated. The Role of Jobcentre Plus Offer to Employers Rapid Response Service – the RRS is the support we give to employers and their employees facing redundancies to help them find new jobs; For employers who are willing to work with us through LEP’s, we can also offer Work Trials, Jobsfairs and Pre-Employment Training; Recruitment Subsidy – available to employers who recruit eligible jobseekers LDAN 11 November 2009 06

The Role of Jobcentre Plus Recruiting Local Employment Partnerships are based on a simple ‘deal’ with employers across all sectors: the Government ensures that jobless customers get the preparation and support that enables them to meet employers needs and expectations; employers with vacancies give them a fair shot at the job – through, for example adjusting recruitment practises, guaranteeing interviews, or offering work trails; LDAN 11 November 2009 06

The Role of Jobcentre Plus Recruiting Jobcentre Plus, in conjunction with local partners, works with employers to: identify the employers recruitment criteria; customise any necessary training and support; determine the approaches the employer wishes to use in recruitment; and ensure jobs are filled quickly and efficiently to the employers specification. The Role of Jobcentre Plus Developing People We’re working to ensure that all employers can access the appropriate range of recruitment, skills and business support services offered by the Government in a coherent way. This means: how Train to Gain can help them develop the skills of the people they employ; encourage them to sign the Skills Pledge, a promise to support all employees in developing their basic skills and working for relevant qualifications; LDAN 11 November 2009 06
