Agency Representative - AREP 4 The Agency Administrator Representative is responsible for representing the resource, political, social, and economic issues of the agency administrator to the IC This is accomplished by participating in the agency administrator in-briefing, in the IMT planning and strategy meetings, and in the operational briefings.

Regarding: 4 Compliance with the Delegation of Authority and the WFDSS 4 Public Concerns, Safety and Information 4 Socioeconomic, political, or tribal concerns 4 Interagency and inter-governmental issues 4 Wildland urban interface impacts 4 Impacts to natural resources 4 Media contacts

7. Additional Roles of AREP  “Takes Care” of Agency Personnel Assigned to Fire  Medical or Personnel Issues  Emergency Demobs, etc…  Keep Agency Admin & Home Office updated  Makes sure documents, reports, plans complete before team departs incident  Returns with Appropriate Incident Documentation

Resource Advisor- READ 4 The Resource Advisor is responsible for anticipating the impacts of fire operations on natural and cultural resources and for communicating protection requirements for those resources to the IC. 4 The Resource Advisor should assure IMT compliance with the Land Management Plan and Fire Management Plan direction.

READ – Provides Info on: 4 Suppression damage repair requirements 4 GIS Layers-Land ownership, allotments, etc 4 Fuel breaks (locations and specifications) 4 Riparian Areas & Water sources 4 Critical watershed, habitat, T & E Species 4 Noxious weeds/aquatic invasive species 4 Cultural and Paleontological sites 4 Special management areas

10. AREP and/or READ ?? AKA: “The Art of Wearing Multiple Hats” 4 Important to understand each role 4 If no other BLM personnel are there you may have to take on some AREP roles 4 AREP & READ work as team 4 You may need to use AREP to more effectively communicate needs to IC

California Interagency Fire Management Agreement (CFMA) 4 History & Evolution of Agreement 4 1992 Balancing of Acres Between Agencies 4 Recently Updated March 2013 The purpose of the “California Cooperative Wildland Fire Management and Stafford Act Response Agreement” (CFMA) is to document the commitment of the Agencies to this Agreement to improve efficiency by facilitating the coordination and exchange of personnel, equipment, supplies, services, information and funds among the Agencies to this Agreement.

17. 3. The State and Federal Agencies will cooperate to the extent possible to achieve wildland fire objectives of common interest and concern. 10. The agencies to the CFMA acknowledge that differences exist between agency missions. The protecting agency will represent the jurisdictional agency’s interests in wildland fire protection consistent with State and Federal authority and policy. CFMA – BASIS OF HOW LANDS WILL BE COOPERATIVELY PROTECTED

Modified Suppression Plans or “Special Mgmt Considerations” 4 These follow in AOP Appendix: –Apply to specific areas – ACECs, WSA, areas with naturally occurring asbestos, etc –Per CFMA, these are used to identify: Special Management Areas where restrictions on normal suppression methods apply –Bring copies of these with you to the fire!
