2 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE 2 To facilitate and coordinate women’s empowerment and gender equality through mainstreaming in all government’s policies, programmes and governance processes as well as advocating, lobbying and awareness raising To monitor compliance and conduct impact assessments on women’s empowerment and gender equality as well as compile reports to meet national, regional, continental and international commitments To provide an integrated approach for institutional support and capacity development 12/6/2015

(FS, EC and KZN) Limpopo province did not undertake the audit due to provincial challenges. This project is chiefly funded by the UNFPA and hence is funding for Limpopo has been returned by the UNFPA to the UN. The province is still on the radar given the UN-SA Country agreements signed on which provinces are supported by the agency. Will attempt to renegotiate with outstanding province in 2013/14 year as part of the process of the DWCPD doing the remainder provincial audits 12/6/2015

14 SUPPLIMENTARY PROJECTS (Activities) 14 WEGE Bill Assisted in finalization of Draft Bill and Regulatory Impact Assessment (done by Legal Services) Developed presentation and finalised Cabinet Memorandum for submission of Bill to G&A Cab Committee Presented Bill to G&A DG Cluster meeting on 07 August. Draft Bill adopted for Cabinet submission processes Bill presented on 14 th August 2012 at G&A Cab Committee. Briefing notes compiled for Minister Amended presentation of Bill for Cabinet meeting. Finalised amendment of Bill per Cab Committee suggestions with Legal Services Bill presented to Cabinet on 21 st August 2012 – adopted for publication in Government Gazette Bill gazetted on 26 th August 2012. Letter drafted for Minister’s approval for circulation of Bill. Preparations undertaken for consultation on the WEGE Draft Bill on 14 th September Attended round-table was organised by the Legal Services unit on the WEGE Bill on 14 th August 2012 as part of the consultation on the Bill Drafted response letter to the Minister of Health on inputs received on the draft Bill Hosted the NEDLAC-Government sector Task Team on the Bill on 03 September 2012 Bill presented and consulted on in Joint Machinery meeting on 26-27 September 2012 12/6/2015

Number of Advocacy and Social Campaigns coordinated 1 Social Campaign on National Women’s month coordinated Constituted Women’s month National Coordinating Committee (NCC), facilitated and chaired all meetings. Developed the state of readiness report and led the presentation at the City of Tshwane Joint Operation Committee. Women’s Day campaign conducted in partnership with Gauteng Office of the Premier and the City of Tshwane at the Union Building Lawns. Addressed Women’s month celebrations meeting at the Limpopo Dept. of Agriculture and Rural Development Female Entrepreneurs Awards, GCIS, Johannesburg Society for the Blind Council of Medical Scheme, National Union of Mineworkers, Department of Defence Gender Conference; and a workshop for the women at the Tributes to Women with Disabilities. Number of provincial monitoring visits to women’s projects, including green economy projects and case studies documented and published 3 monitoring visit in Gauteng, North West and KZN No monitoring visits could take place in three targeted provinces. As far as is possible within the very limited budget the unit will try to do some provinces in Q3 and Q4 Number of national departments monitored on WEGE Monitoring tool with gender responsive indicators developed 3 national departments work- shopped and monitored on gender responsiveness The target was not met given that the M&E framework was still being developed. The generic tool of the DWCPD was being used in the interim. Hence the workshop was not feasible. This will be covered with the third
