2. Objectives Following completion of this lesson you will be able to:. Define how often a password must be changed. Identify the Meditech warning message and describe how to respond to the message. Describe the steps you must take to change a password

3. For security reasons, the first time you sign on to Meditech and every 60 days after that you will be prompted to change your password.

4. When the time has come for you to choose and enter a new password, you will be prompted with a message like this.

5. You will be asked to enter your new password twice to verify its accuracy because you will not be able to see what you have typed. When the two entries match, the new password will be accepted.

6. The next time you sign on you will use your new password. Passwords must be at least 6 characters long and consist of letters and numbers.

7. As you choose a new password, keep the following in mind: - Select a password that is easy for you to remember without writing it down. - Use a unique password that no one else will be able to guess. - Don’t use passwords such as your first name, your spouse’s name, or your birth date.

8. When you have successfully signed on, you will be ready to continue the Meditech learning process in the applications needed for your job.

9. Whenever you are finished using the computer, remember to exit all the way out of the system. You never want to leave the computer unattended while you are logged on. This will prevent unauthorized users from viewing confidential patient information, and discourage other users from using your login to enter orders or document under your name.

10. Summary. Your password must be at least 6 characters long and can consist of numbers and/or letters. Your password must be changed the first time you sign on and every 60 days after that. A warning message will tell you when you need to change your password. You cannot see what you are typing when you enter the new password. You must enter the new password correctly twice in order for it to become your new password.
