Wind Power IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!!! By Ryan O’Donnell, Shane O’Doherty, Cahir McGlinchey and Ryan Quigley
2
Our Energy –The alternative energy for Northern Ireland we chose was Wind Power.
3
Why we picked Our Topic! We picked wind power because it was a very easy topic to research. With all of this information we would be able to form a good seven slides power- point presentation.
4
How is it produced? Wind power is produced by the movement of a wind turbine being moved by the wind. We capture the energy through Large wind turbines. The turbine turns round and round which turns a generator for power.
5
Advantages. 1) The advantages of wind power are that it is free and produces no pollution. 2) The other advantage is that the wind farms for the turbines do not need any fuel to power all the turbines for movement because the wind moves them.
6
Disadvantages. They are also bad because they have some disadvantages too, they are as follows: 1) They cover the landscape with towers which is unsightly. 2) Also, some days in the year also have no wind which produces no energy.
7
Is it Reliable? Yes they are reliable because it is very cheap but in some days they do not produce power because of the lack of wind like below in the picture.
8
Conclusion Wind power is a good source of energy because it is free and winds farms do not need fuel and they produce no pollution which already is helping the environment. We also found out the energy is produced by the turbines turning a generator.
