There is not a simple neural cord from a sensing device to the brain Gate-Control Theory – Patrick Wall’s theory that the spinal cord contains a “gate” that blocks or allows pain signals moving to the brain.

Humans have their own identifiable chemical signature and smell The attractiveness of smells depends on learned associations. ◦Baby’s are not born with a built-in preference for the small of their mother. ◦Good experiences are tied to that small Smell is primitive. We used to sniff for food.
