Saturday the 23 of April me and my mum set off on a 2 and a half to 3 hour horse trek. We arrived at Haumoana Zoo at 1 o clock. Dyan told us that we were early so if we could catch liquorish, Zena, and Sidney they were in the paddock across the road. I caught Liquorish because he bites other horses if they get too close and because it was a road so it would have been dangerous. My mum got Sidney and Zena. We tied them up and My mum was riding Liquorish I was riding Tank who was already there in the horse pen.

We tacked the horses up and in no time we were outside with everyone crowding around us just waiting for Cliff to lead us off on Zena. We rode up to the Tuki Tuki river but before we crossed the river we rode down a steep slope that most horses found hard to get down but that was hardly a quarter of the trek. It was fun crossing the river but I got really wet because Liquorish was putting his head in the water and flicking the water at me and Tank but I don't care that I got wet because I got my mum and liquorish back. We set off under the bridge and went next to the cycle track but we weren't aloud the horses on it so we rode on the horse trail. Cliff said they came here often and they used cut down trees as horse jumps.

One hour later we found an unusual part of the Tuki Tuki river in the centre of the river it was very shallow and then it got to the horses belly luckily they were still walking not swimming. But then I found out how we were getting out of the river it was the steepest hill I've ever ridden a horse up. I saw my mum with liquorish climb up he stopped half way through so my mum had to kick him on and that's what put me off going up the steep hill. I kicked tank on hoping he wouldn’t stop half way through he climbed up the hill very slowly, I didn’t want to pull the reins so I held on to his neck but that didn’t really help I was still slipping I held on and thought that if I fell off I would fall into the river finally Tank got up the scary steep hill. But when I thought it was all over I saw the most steepest BMX jump ever :0:0:0:0:0 Tank went down it very slowly unfortunately he went up very slowly to I could feel myself slipping down the saddle but I stayed on.

About one hour later we were walking down east road Tank was very tired and thirsty because when we went in the river the second time he was drinking the water nonstop we turned into Haumoana Zoo and tied the horses up. I took Casper back to the paddock I felt very sorry for Casper because his breast plat was to tight and it rubbed a patch of his hair off on his thy. Laura my horse riding teacher said he will be ok because it only rubbed some of his hair off so his skin will be fine. I had a great time going on the Tuki Tuki river trek it was lots of fun.
