3 Consolidated Monitoring 2013-14 Monitoring At A Glance 14 districts visited, January to May Programs examined – Alternative Programs; CTE; Gifted and Talented; IDEA; Preschool; Professional Growth and Effectiveness System; Program Reviews; Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; and Title III Each program produced a program report Monitoring teams produced a consolidated report

4 Monitoring Reports Program Report Program-specific: monitoring indicators, language, required documentation. One report per program Required actions for findings. May include program- specific recommendations. Consolidated Report General snapshot of cross-cutting issues and effective practices. One report, all programs. No findings or required actions. May include recommendations to help district tackle cross- cutting issues.

6 Monitoring Hot Topics Use of MUNIS expenditure code 0610 – Prior approval needed, see email notification (Review and Question) 1 email notification Allowable food expenditures – See email notification (Review and Question) 2 email notification Expenditure approval processes – Determining allowable costs and program alignment Spending of required reservations in a timely manner – Homeless – Parent involvement – Private school proportional amounts

7 Proactivity is Key Ensure that Title I, Part A coordinators are getting 0610 approvals prior to spending from that code. Ensure all, district to school levels, understand the food restrictions. Work to adopt P.O. approval process that include a determination of allowable costs and program alignment. Request an invite to planning meetings.

8 Proactivity is Key Communicate regularly with the program coordinator. Develop and employ a process to ensure MUNIS/Ranking Reports are not changed without being reflected in the other.
