5. Acme Basin B Discharge Project Project Purpose The Everglades Forever Act requires that all discharges to the Everglades Protection Area must meet water quality standards by December 31, 2006. Acme Pumps #1 and #2 currently discharge stormwater runoff from Acme Basin B directly into the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge (Refuge), part of the Everglades Protection Area. The purpose of the Acme Basin B Discharge Project is to divert stormwater runoff from Acme Basin B to the C-51 West Canal and then to STA-1E for treatment prior to discharge to the Refuge. Excess available water may be used to meet water supply demands in central and southern Palm Beach County.
