2 What is a weather chart? A weather chart is useful in the following ways: It can be used to teach language and vocabulary involving the weather. It can be used for a weather topic. It can be used to extend stories and poems about the weather. It is a resource that can be used daily. It can be re-used if separate cards are made. It is a cheap resource for the teacher to use. It can be used when teaching other language areas, e.g days of the week, months of the year and seasons.

3 When to use a weather chart?
The topic of weather is often part of the primary curriculum and can be studied on a daily basis. A simple weather chart can be completed by individual children, by groups, or by the whole class. It can be drawn by the teacher on a large sheet of paper and attached to the wall and filled in daily. Or it can be copied by the children and filled in daily.

4 How to make a weather chart?
For a classroom wall chart: Materials needed: a large sheet of card of paper, coloured felt tip pens, strips of stiff card, blu – tack or sello tape. For individual charts: Materials needed: a sheet of A4 paper or a page in an exercise book, coloured pens of pencils.
