6. Network interface card A card that is slotted into a computer motherboard that allows other computers to connect to it.

7. Switch A hardware device that acts as a single point to connect a group of computers. Each computer, including the server, has cables connected to the switch. The switch organises the communication between the computers.

8. Router A hardware device which connects two or more networks together. It works out the best route for each packet of data to travel along. A router is needed to send and receive data from the Internet to a computer.
