5. MY EDGAR ALLAN POE BIO Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19 th,1809 in Boston. In 1811 Edgar’s mother Elizabeth dies when he is 2. Then in 1826 he attends University of Virginia. In 1827 at the age of 18 Poe publishes first book ‘’Tamberlane and Other Poems’’. His next move is he joins the U.S. Army in 1827. He then assumes the rank Sargent-Major. After dropping out in 1829 Applies to West Point. After that in 1831 he is kicked out of West Point deliberately…

6. MY EDGAR ALLAN POE BIO …1834 John Allen dies and Edgar gets nothing in his will. In 1835 Edgar gets a job because from the book ‘’The Manuscript found in a Bottle’’. 1836 Marries 13 year old cousin Virginia. 1847 Virginia dies from Tuberculosis on January 30. In July 1849 Poe joins the ‘’Sons of Temperance’’ in order to stop drinking. So that (his drinking) could of contributed to his death. Edgar Alan Poe dies October 7, 1849 in Baltimore.

7. MY THEORY ON POE’S DEATH The drinking theory because he joined the’’ Sons of Temperance’’ in order to stop drinking. Another reason way he might have died from alcohol because he had engaged in bouts of drinking. After his death they said it would not prove fatal which was a dagger through the heart for the alcohol theory. I still think he could of drank too much and died.

8. FAVORITE POE STORY My favorite Poe story is ‘’Masque of The Red Death because of the way the story is written. It is written and read in a creepy way. So the story starts out when the ‘’Red Death’’ a plaque the covers people in red dots and kills them… So Prince Prospero gathered 1000 people and put them in his castle so his people could live on. On night while having a masquerade in the 7 rooms when the clock rings it makes everyone stop and the orchestra stop playing. Next time it rings and all through midnight everyone stops doing whatever and listens to the sound.

9. FAVORITE POE STORY …Next time it rings and all through midnight everyone stops doing whatever and listens to the sound. So a masked figure comes in and goes through the rooms and then in the black room he stops. When the Prince comes running through he raises a dagger and dies on the spot. So the mob comes running in to attack him and the masked man kills them one by one and he finally he leaves when all the people are dead. He used symbolism in the rooms which are the colors of life so when the Prince run through the rooms he is running through his life because blue is for birth and black is death.

10. CONCLUSION Poe is the father of the modern day horror story because of his use of symbolism in his stories like the ‘’Masque of the Red Death’’ the rooms symbolize life because blue is birth and at the end is black for death. I connected to Poe’s stories because I love scary and creepy stories. I absolutely loved his stories because of the scary yet weird parts.
