6 Evolution of the gym When the rock wall was first opened about 7 years ago it was a very bare bones operation. It was a place for climbers to go climb and hang out. Since then much has changed. Every day is now full of youth and adult programs. The gym also in recent years has started to offer instructional courses and out trips to Squamish. Along with day to day changes in operation and programs offered the gym has also changed physically over the years. Over the last 5 years through 3 separate renovations the gym has increased its climbable wall space by approximately 650 square feet. I am sure that the gym will continue to grow and evolve for all the time that it is in existence.

8 Climbing is fun The motto at the gym is really simple. Climbing is fun. The owner feels that people can, but should not have to take climbing seriously. Coming to the gym should be an escape from the day to day stresses.

11 Success The Rock Wall is successful as a business due to extensive marketing advancements over the last few years It is hard for a climbing gym to fail due to the lack of gyms to fill the demand of the climber Over the last 10 years the sport of indoor climbing has grown exponentially. The wall- The portable wall makes the gym a lot of lot of money in its peak season and also help to get The Rock Wall name out to the world.

12 Local competition Project climbing center Project climbing is the gym in Abbotsford. This gym is not run in the same way that the Rock Wall is run today. They are just starting to run programs and are using The Rock Wall as a model for some of there activities. Cliffhanger Cliffhanger started as a gym in Coquitlam and was very successful and has since expanded their name and purchesd other gyms in Vancouver and Richmond. I believe a big party of there success was having the money to open a nice and big gym in the first place. Cliffhanger Coquitlam is western Canada largest climbing gym.
