Cavitec, Dycal, life, preline Consistency: Thin and creamy, as it sets, it gets tacky Once it sets completely, it hardens Function (Uses): Direct pulp cap (see next slide) Indirect pulp cap Protective barrier under restorations, including composites

Pulp Capping-Procedure
Stimulates formation of irregular secondary dentin. An important PROPERTY! Pulp cap: thick or double layer of calcium hydroxide liner Direct: cavity prep almost enters the pulp of the tooth Indirect: cavity prep nears the pulp chamber, but does not enter it

Armamentarium: 4 items needed: Small 1x1 paper pad
Ball point tip instrument (Dycal instrument) Used to mix + apply 2x2 gauze square Supplied as 2 paste system: Base and catalyst Equal amounts

Mixing information: Ratio: Mix time: Work Time: Set Time: Clean up:
Equal amounts of base and catalyst Mix time: 10 seconds Incorporate material into homogeneous color-no streaks, all 1 color Work Time: 30 seconds Set Time: 1 ½ -2 minutes Clean up: Wipe instrument with gauze, can be flicked off if it dries

Mixing information: Mix technique:
