Cause/Effect Practice First this…then that!
2
Every cause has an effect. Causes happen FIRST. For example, a seed is planted, a plant grows. If the seed had not been planted, a plant would not grow. The planting is the CAUSE, the plant is the result, or EFFECT.
3
Your assignment: You will see a series of matched pictures. Your job is to write a sentence that explains the cause/effect relationship between the pictures. Using the same example from before, my sentence could be: A seed was planted, so the flower grew.
4
BE CAREFUL! You may be confused about the difference between the CAUSE and the EFFECT. The cause ALWAYS happens first. You will write six sentences. Be sure to check your writing for capitals and punctuation. Be sure your name is on your paper.
5
Ready? Let’s go! Do not worry about spelling. Your work will be graded on the correct cause and effect, and the correct capitalization and punctuation.

Check your work! Remember, the CAUSE happens first. The CAUSE answers the question “Why?” The EFFECT happens after the CAUSE. Check your paper before handing it in. Be sure it is your BEST work!
