Professor Evaluation #1 MGMT 362 Fall 2003

General Comments n n Most people have chosen to reserve judgment until they get the first test back n n “Sometimes you don’t finish your thoughts or sentences.” n n “I think you have a little self-esteem problem because you do get nervous in front of the class. Just think of us as family, we have seen you come into the world and will be there when you go out!” n n “The second night I left a little confused because you showed us how to do equations, and then told us it was not the right way.” n n “The thing I like the most is you are kind of a smart a**.”

Manufacturing Versus Services n n “The only thing I get tired of is talking only about manufacturing. We should talk about all kinds of business.” n n “Instructor could be better at exploring service sector applications.”

Class Participation n n “I love the way you have every student participating in class and giving their own views.” n n “Asking for student input helps out a lot.” n n “I am a little uncomfortable about when you just call on people to give answers. I do do not really like being singled out.” n n “One thing that I don’t really like is that you call on everyone all the time. It makes me nervous because we don’t know when we are going to be called on and if we don’t know the answer we will look stupid.”

PowerPoint Slides n n “I think the Powerpoint presentations are just a little dry.” n n “Maybe you could stray a little bit from the slides. That gets really repetitious.” n n “You can make the class more interesting if you were to deviate from the Powerpoint presentation a little.”

Exam and Exam Prep n n “I don’t want to learn a whole lot about something that is just briefly covered on the test.” n n “Have a practice test that is similar in format to the real test.” n n “I would like to see the study guide material handed out earlier.” n n “You went over a problem on weighted average and it took fifteen minutes and we did not even have to know it for the test.” n n “ I think you should spend more time on the things that are going to be on the test and not on things that are not on the test.” n n “It would be nice if the items on the study guide were talked about more in class.” n n “Some of the things that are not going to be on the test are covered in too much detail.”

Funny Clothes n n “I like the informal way you dress, although I would suggest you SHAVE THE BEARD.” n n “You dress like an old man.” n n “I do not think you dress funny although I think I would do something about those shoes!”

Suggestions n n “I think some videos of real-world applications would be very helpful.” n n “Team presentations of material would be good and might reinforce some of the principles.” n n “Open book quizzes and tests would be helpful.” n n “We could take a field trip to your facility and see the operation up close.” n n “I would like to see more real life examples to work in class, instead of goofy story problems.” n n “Beer and pizza in class would be even better.”
