2. ‘ Development for All’ strategy 2009-2014 >Australia ratified the CRPD in 2008 >Strategy launched in November 2008 >Purpose  To ensure people with disabilities are included in and benefit equally from Australia’s aid program

3. Mid Term Review In 2012, an independent review was undertaken to identify achievements to date, and inform future work under the strategy. Consultations took place in: PNG, Samoa, Fiji, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia.

4. MTR Findings - successes Early progress under the strategy has been ‘considerable and impressive’. Progress has been made, including -Increased access to education, health and law and justice services -People with disability have an increased voice to advocate for their rights as citizens -Several examples of early analysis on barriers to inclusion

5. MTR Findings - opportunities Along with considerable gains there is more to be done, including -AusAID capacity and systems strengthened to build awareness and understanding of disability-inclusive development -Up-front analysis on barriers to inclusion and participation in our programs -Committing budget for inclusive design and implementation -Measuring the impact of our work -Continued focus on leadership, both within AusAID and amongst the broader stakeholders in disability-inclusive development.

6. Awareness and understanding We are working to ensure that AusAID staff are confident and have the tools to promote and implement disability-inclusive development.

7. Inclusive analysis and Accessible Design Early analysis on barriers to inclusion (societal, institutional, physical) AusAID’s Accessibility Design Guide provides a policy framework and design standards to enhance accessibility of the built environment in Australian aid activities.

8. Monitoring and evaluation AusAID needs to respond to strong interest from stakeholders in the Strategy and its implementation. - we will do this through systematically collecting and sharing evidence on our successes and lessons learned.

9. International leadership Australia has an important role to play in the 2013 High Level Meeting and the Post-2015 agenda. >The High Level Meeting is an important opportunity for the disability community to develop a clear position to take forward in the Post-2015 discussions. >We are keen to ensure that the framework that replaces the Millennium Development Goals is inclusive of people with disability.
