The Start of a New Era The renaissance was a time of creativity and change The heart of the Italian Renaissance was a movement known as humanism Education was the utmost importance In this time, they brought back Greek and Latin learning

Birthplace of the Renaissance Italy had been the center of the Roman empire Italy was a logical place for the re- awakening to begin Florence symbolized the energy and brilliance of the Italian Renaissance From Florence came a number of gifted poets, artists, architects, etc.

The Golden Age of Art The Italian Renaissance produced some of the most glorious painters thus far Renaissance art reflected humanist concerns Art portrayed religious figures, also portraits of well known figures of their day Renaissance artists studied the classical form of the ancient Greeks and Romans

Geniuses of Renaissance Art Leonardo da Vinci – contributed to Renaissance creating paintings such as the Mona Lisa & the Last Supper Michelangelo – greatest project was the painting of the Sistine Chapel in Rome Raphael – studied the works of both Leonardo and Michelangelo, his most famous painting was “the school of Athens”

Woman in Renaissance Woman overcame the limits on education and became professional artists Sometimes these women kept their works secret, letting their husbands take the credit

Contributions The Italian Renaissance contributed some of the most talented artists, writers, and poets of their time They took what was already known, and put their own twist on it All together the Italian Renaissance had great influence on the world today
