EFFECTIVE PRAYER - Part-7 UNITED PRAYER
2
“It seems God is limited by our prayer life—that He can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him.” - John Wesley
3
WHAT IS PRAYER? An attitude. It is communicating and fellowshipping with God to receive what He has already given you through Christ Jesus.
4
TEXTS: Ephesians 6:10-12, 18. Acts 4:23-24, 29-31.
5
WHAT IS UNITED OR CORPORATE PRAYER? It is when a group of believers come together to pray at once and pray out loud in one accord. - Verse 24
6
When we as believers come together collectively in united prayer, the Spirit of the Lord moves among us. We experience a fullness of the Spirit that cannot be obtained by any other kind of prayer. It brings powerful results.
7
Real united prayer can affect an entire church, city, province or even a nation. It creates an open heaven where there is no opposition in the spirit realm, clearing the way for God to move freely. Under an open heaven, great things happen: Gen. 28:13-14; Mark 1:9-10.
8
In the Bible, we see four (4) different kinds of situations where united (or corporate) prayer is necessary.
9
1.In Times of Crises: This kind of prayer accesses the power of God in times of crises. Acts 4:23-32 Acts 12:1-7 Unity of the hearts is what makes this kind of prayer work. A chorus of people praying with one mind.
10
2.To Obtain Mercy and Forgiveness: When corporate mercy and forgiveness are needed, united prayer is the kind of prayer to pray. Ezra 10:1-2, 6-12. Jonah 3:5-10. United repentance procured mercy & forgiveness.
11
3.To Usher in God’s Glory: Unified worship is the most common way that believers come together in unity before God. When this is done in one accord, God’s glory is manifested. 2 Chronicles 5:11-14 Acts 16:23-26.
12
There are times when we need nothing more than to pray and praise God, because that’s the combination that will bring down the power of God and set us free.
13
4.Seeking Direction: Anytime a group of people nedd guidance from God, the united prayer is the best form of prayer to pray. 2 Chronicles 20:3-4, 13-18. When everyone sought the Lord, He spoke and declared, “Stand still ….” They wouldn’t have gotten this is the king had gone to pray alone.
14
As we learn to gather in unity of mind to pray, we too, will see more amazing victories in our churches and nation. We will discover that when a group of believing people join together to seek God in unity for deliverance, direction, mercy and forgiveness, He will be found.
