2 During the reign of Topa Inca, the Incan Empire grew to over 2,500 miles with 12 million people under his rule.

3 During the reign of Topa Inca, the Incan Empire traveled south, from Ecuador to Argentina, along the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

4 The capitol city of the Incan government is the village of Cuzco, which is now in present day Peru.

5 The Incan government was able to take census and collect taxes because of the large scale road system that they built.

6 A census was a way of keeping count of the population. It assisted with collecting taxes.

7 Quipas was a knotted string used by the Incas as a method of keeping records

8 The Incas were able to bring water to dry land by way of aqueducts, which were a series of canals and pipes.

9 The Incan people worshiped many gods, with Initi, the sun god being one of the more important gods.

10 The Incan empire came to an end in the 1500s when they were conquered by the Spanish.

11 Descendants of the Incans can be found today in: Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Columbia. Peru Ecuador Columbia Bolivia CHILECHILE South America
