The essential dialogue and interaction between civilian and military actors in humanitarian emergencies necessary to avoid competition, minimize conflict, and, when appropriate, pursue common goals. It is a shared responsibility facilitated by liaison and the deployment of CMCoord officers.

Over-reliance on military assets, or their imprudent use, will severely damage the humanitarian system and place humanitarian activities and workers at risk. Coordination is not only a function, it is a SHARED RESPONSIBILITY. If you don’t do it, neither will they.
