Journals- Your student has one journal that will travel to and from school daily. These are our reading journals. Designed to get your student thinking about their reading in different ways. They should select a prompt prior to reading. Reading journals- are for daily homework, reading 15 minutes a night and answering a reading prompt. Journals are checked every day for completion. I will collect approximately every 2 weeks and reply to your student’s prompts, beginning September 25 th.

Students will be assigned writing projects and reading projects throughout the year Reading Groups and Literature Circles- students are rated on their completeness of work and ability to attend to the task while discussing the reading book Writing projects are rated on a generic 4-point rubric, some are itemized on a task specific rubric to ensure certain criterion are met, rubrics are discussed in class and will be posted on my website when the class has finalized their rubric, prior to the project starting.
