Baseline Assessments September 2015 Baseline assessments will show whether a pupil is ready to start the year or not. Progress can be tracked from this baseline assessment.

What does it look like now? Less learning objectives as pupils start working towards the same point Start of the week SEN Year 4 = SY4 secure Year 4 –”beginning” to meet the learning objective for Year 5 Year 5 = CY5 commencing Year 5– learning objective for Year 5 Year 6 = below expectation Year 6 pupils– SY5 secure Year 5 – has met the learning objective for Year 5 Year 6 = CY6 commencing Year 6 – starting to meet the learning objective for Year 6

By the end of the week most pupils working at age expected level CY5 – commencing Year 5 CY6 – commencing Year 6

What are the implications on teaching? Slower pace Activities designed to extend pupils’ thinking around a subject Swift intervention to keep pupils moving at the same pace Whole class teaching that allows for multiple ways to solve a problem
