A Form Tutor’s role is central in both caring for students and, crucially, monitoring their progress both academically and socially; encouraging involvement, commitment, and high standards of work and behaviour. Differences from KS3/4 -Importance of independent learning outside of lessons – when most learning takes place in lessons, class teachers can take a lot of responsibility, when significant learning needs to take place outside of lessons it is harder for them to do so -Range of future choices -Shift in teacher/pupil relationship -Shift in pupil self perception Similarities -Attendance, uniform, behaviour -Pastoral, home school and personal issues -Progress tracking and raising attainment
