2 Main Concepts Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the study of computer systems that attempt to model and apply the intelligence of the human mind Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the study of computer systems that attempt to model and apply the intelligence of the human mind –Commonly seen in robotics and video games Turing Test – a test used to empirically determine whether a computer has achieved intelligence Turing Test – a test used to empirically determine whether a computer has achieved intelligence –In this test, there are three participants: a human interrogator, a human respondent, and a computer respondent –The interrogator asks questions of both respondents and has to figure out which one is a human and which one is a computer

3 Main Concepts Weak equivalence – the equality of two systems based on their results Weak equivalence – the equality of two systems based on their results –With weak equivalence (weak AI), the computer and human are able to produce the same results –However, the process by which the two get to this result is different Strong equivalence – the equality of two systems based on their results and the process by which they arrive at those results Strong equivalence – the equality of two systems based on their results and the process by which they arrive at those results –With strong equivalence (strong AI), the computer and human are able to produce the same results by using the same logical process –This has not yet been achieved

4 Project Progress Focusing on basic concept research right now Focusing on basic concept research right now Also working on planning out the tic- tac-toe program Also working on planning out the tic- tac-toe program Looking at working on robotics research soon Looking at working on robotics research soon

5 Tic-Tac-Toe Program Plan: A C program in which the user plays a game of tic-tac-toe with the computer AI. Plan: A C program in which the user plays a game of tic-tac-toe with the computer AI. We're hoping to be able to incorporate OpenGL graphics libraries to provide a graphical interface for the program.
